Breast Augmentations combined with Uplift

Breast Augmentations combined with Uplift is done in saggy breasts, where excess skin needs to be removed and implants are inserted aiming at enhancing and lifting your breasts to achieve a bigger and firm breast shape., also known as pinnaplasty or ear correction, involves shaping of the cartilage of the ear. This allows folds to be created, which make the ear lie close to the side of the head.

It is recommended to consider what you want to achieve from the surgery before you meet the surgeon. In particular, you should think about how large you want your breasts to be. There are technical considerations for many women as to how large the surgeon can make any particular women's breasts (please, see breast augmentation), and the aim should always be to create a sensible result, which is in harmony with your figure.
Most surgical procedures involve a variety of options, depending upon the patient's wishes, the patient's anatomical feature, and technical considerations. During the consultation, I shall offer and explain the best option for you.

Some advice:

  • A possible weight loss program is best to be finished before your uplift.
  • Smokers are advised to stop smoking for at least 2 weeks prior to surgery until 4 weeks after surgery, in order to help healing and reduce the risk of infection. Smoking reduces the blood supply to the tissue.

Regarding the operation there are three incision types:

  • Around the areola
  • Around the areola and vertical running from the areola to the breast crease
  • Around the areola, vertical running from the areola to the breast crease, and horizontally along that crease (inverted T).

The size and types of the breast implants will be discussed with you during the consultation. The choice of implant is between silicone jelly and saline. Following the UK Government's recent Independent Review Group's report on the safety of silicone breast implants, most cosmetic plastic surgeons and patients choose silicone due to its natural feeling on touch.

Usually the operation is performed under general anaesthesia and takes about 2 to 3 hours. All patients stay in hospital for one night. If your work is not physical (no lifting or sports), expect to return to work after 7 to 10 days. Normal physical exercises can be started after 4 to 6 weeks.

After the operation you might feel somewhat bruised and sore. Your breasts are likely to be swollen. Best is to sleep on your back and to avoid straining or bending for about 4 weeks. You have to wear a support bra during this time.

The scars will fade over a period of time. In most cases, they form very faint lines. However, it is important to remember that no surgical scar ever completely disappears.

Regarding possible risks and complications cosmetic surgery is very safe. However, everybody has to accept that no surgical procedure is entirely free from risk. These possible, but rare risks will be explained to you during the consultation and I shall answer all your questions. In addition, you will receive a "Patient Guide" for Breast Augmentation + Uplift.
