Breast Uplift

Although Cosmetic Surgery cannot change your life per se, more self-esteem and a better feeling within yourself can encourage you to finally make long thought changes or to continue your daily life, but now with a content smile when looking into the mirror, buying a bra, a well-fitted dress, or a new pair of jeans.

Breast uplift, also known as Mastopexy, removes excess skin in order to lift and reshape the breast when it has become saggy. Thus a more youthful breast contour can be achieved.

Reasons for a saggy breast can be following:

It is recommended that you consider what you want to achieve from the surgery before you see the surgeon. Mostly, you should have an idea whether you want to keep your breast size or whether you would like to combine the uplift with an enlargement of your breast size (please, see Breast Augmentation + Uplift). Most surgical procedures involve a variety of options, depending upon the patient’s wishes, the patient’s anatomical feature, and technical considerations. During the consultation, I shall offer and explain the best option for you.

Some advice:

Regarding the operation there are three incision types:

If you decide that you want your breasts made larger, then at the same time as the uplift is performed, implants can be inserted in your breasts. The size and types of these implants will be discussed with you at consultation. The choice of implant is between silicone jelly and saline. Following the UK Government’s recent Independent Review Group’s report on the safety of silicone breast implants, most cosmetic plastic surgeons and patients choose silicone due to its natural feeling on touch.

Usually the operation is performed under general anaesthesia and takes about 2.5 to 3 hours. All patients stay in hospital for one night. If your work is not physical (no lifting or sports), expect to return to work after 10 to 14 days. Normal physical exercises can be started after 4 to 6 weeks.
